This system serves as a critical automated auxiliary equipment for blood collection tube production lines, functioning downstream of injection molding machines. Its core purpose is to replace manual labor, enabling fully unmanned operation throughout the entire process—from the automatic extraction of blood collection tubes from the injection molding machine, to sorting, and final packing into boxes—thereby significantly enhancing production efficiency and product consistency.

I. Core Functions and Workflow of the System

The system establishes signal-based linkage with the injection molding machine to form a closed-loop production process, which consists of 4 key stages:

  1. Precision Extraction: Upon completion of the injection molding cycle for blood collection tubes, the system’s robotic arm (or dedicated material retrieval mechanism) extends into the mold cavity to securely grasp the tubes according to pre-set coordinates, preventing scratches or deformation.

  1. Preliminary Quality Sorting: Tubes from individual mold cavities are separated independently, facilitating the isolation and removal of non-conforming products.

  1. Orderly Arrangement: Qualified blood collection tubes are conveyed to the sorting mechanism, where they are organized into uniform batches based on pre-defined parameters—including orientation (e.g., tube opening upward/downward) and quantity (e.g., 10 tubes per row).

  1. Automatic Cartoning: The organized batches are then picked up by the packing robotic arm, accurately placed into turnover boxes of specified dimensions, and stacked to the pre-set layer count (e.g., 5 layers). Once a box is fully loaded, it is automatically transferred to the next workstation.

II. Collaborative Advantages with Injection Molding Machines

Rather than operating independently, the system integrates deeply with the injection molding machine to address core pain points of traditional manual operations:

  1. Cycle Synchronization: Via signal interconnection between the PLC control system and the injection molding machine, the material retrieval action is precisely aligned with the mold opening and closing cycles of the injection molding machine. This eliminates waiting time and maximizes the utilization rate of the injection molding equipment.

  1. Protective Linkage: In the event of a system malfunction (e.g., material jamming), a real-time signal is transmitted to the injection molding machine, triggering an immediate pause. This prevents idle mold operation or product damage, ensuring equipment safety.

  1. Data Interoperability: The system can share production data with the injection molding machine (e.g., output per mold, pass rate) and supports synchronous upload to the MES (Manufacturing Execution System), enabling full-process traceability of production data.

III. Core Value of the System

  1. Efficiency Enhancement: It boosts production efficiency, supports 24/7 uninterrupted operation, and increases overall productivity by over 50%.

  1. Quality Stability: It eliminates product contamination and deformation caused by manual handling, stabilizes the injection molding cycle, and reduces the defective product rate.

  1. Cost Optimization: It reduces labor costs by 2–3 personnel per production line, while also minimizing raw material waste (e.g., due to product damage or rework) resulting from human operational errors.
